Great to open new forum with news from a fantastic event ........... The rain couldn't spoil what was a most enjoyable experience.

As Weeks said what a fantastic and memorable event.

I completed the event with just one fix....some rivets came out of my JL end can.
We sorted it by joining 2 jubilee clips together and using it to hold it all in place.
This happened 40 miles from Jedburgh on the way up and the fix lasted the full journey

I rode the event in aid of Cancer Research UK and so far have raised around £1400.
This was via my 'virgin money giving page' and cash/cheques.

Great time despite the weather. Three of us, me Trev and Dom, rode from Dorset to Lands End on the Thursday, digs in the local YHA, drizzly start to Friday and a nice 288 mile ride to Leamington FC where, just as we turning into the site a young man in his sports car decided to overtake, don't know how he missed us but his car ended up written off in the hedge!!!!. Saturday, well it was just sh1t, rain, rain and more rain. The last 50 miles on the A68 to Jedburgh were not pleasant at all. Bumped into Eden, sat on the verge looking real fed up and out of fuel, luckily not long after his mates arrived. Into Jed soaked and cold. Woke up Sun morning to bright sunshine, spirits lifted but 1/2 hour before start heavens opened, didn't last for long and this was best day of the lot. Monday started fine but after we left Inverness it started raining again and then the fog or low cloud kicked in, couldn't see more than 100 feet. We had to stop a Wick on the way to sort out van for our return. Delay meant we missed the mass finish photo. Couple of pics then back to Wick. load up van and drive home overnight arriving back in Dorset at about 0930, absolutely knackered but one hell of a time, met some old and new friends and raised some money for Cancer Reseach. There was a lot of bridges on route

So as me, Kev and Vicky in the back up van arrived at Lands End in trainers, a golf jacket and some 2stroke, what a surprise we got to see race leathers and waterproofs all around, it's about looking good not keeping dry! The brummie lads later told us they thought we were local comedy scooterists who were just tagging along for a few miles. It stayed dry for a mile or so then the rain started, by the time we'd got lost in Exeter we were soaked and stayed that way for days. A bit of local knowledge through Wiltshire cut 30 minutes off the official route but we still last to arrive in Warwick.
After a dry out and some sleep day 2 was dry, until we set off and it poured down all day. We lost our back up van at the second junction, not to be seen again for the next 100 miles. Thanks to Bondy and Craig and co for pointing us in the right direction and getting us through Leicester. Then the monsoon came, flash floods, zero visibility and wet trainers. It eventually cleared to just torrential rain and off we set again. The road to Jedburgh was a highlight, lovely scenery and roads and only drizzle by the time we arrived, in last place again.
Day 3 was a beautiful morning, clear blue sky's, until I kicked the Li over and then the heavens opened again. By now I firmly believed god rides a vespa. A few miles out of Jedburgh and the rain stopped for a while and the whole trip became worthwhile, amazing scenery, lochs, forests and mountains round every corner, breathtaking. We came through a small town with bagpipers and drummers playing, couldn't have been more perfect. Of course the rain started again in the Highlands and we made it to Fort William in last place.
Now to make sure we'd complete this ride Me and Kev both had back up scoots in the van, his a beaut of a GP and my Lambretta chop, for the last leg it was time for these toys to come out.
The first 50 miles out of Fort William were by far the best, dry roads, sweeping bends, great landscape. The miles flew by, until the oil didn't mix in the tank and ran straight into the carb. Quick side of the road fix and off again, into the fog. Really poor visibility all the way till Wick, luckily we had Vicky in the van to follow and drag us over the finish line where we weren't last as we beat the New Forrest lads!
What an amazing adventure, thank you to all organisers, the LCGB and all we met and laughed with along the way, an amazing few days we'll never forget.

Alright fella .............. When you left on Monday night I heard Vicky say she had reserved tickets for Shipston on FB !!!!!!!
Didn't occur to me until later she may have booked for the other Shipston rally ! ............. Id get Jet set out and make sure its the LCGB event and not the one prior

was great to escort you guys thro the borders n lothians,my neighbourhood, i felt like keeping on till fort william, but i was a bit tired, as i had been djing at kelso rally till 4am friday and saturday. great effort by everyone and well done
