This was my 58 framebreather- i registered it without an mot cert because it's exempt, so theres the letter of authenticity (which is basically the only proof of frame number in this case) it says 125li but it's been registered as 125l1 on v5 by dvla

And also like I said hmrc won't except the star in between the prefix and the number.... But you can't leave the prefix out because dvla won't except the number without prefix because that's what's on the letter of authenticity ! Gggrrrr

I just send a covering letter to dvla to explain all that!

Exactly what I said but it was a classic case of ' computer says no' and there's nothing she can do, the problem was mainly that the hmrc computer wouldnt let me write any symbols in the frame number -ie #!?*+ or leave any blank spaces ...

On hmrc nova form - 125l155000
On letter of authenticity 125li*155000 (and actual frame)
on dvla computer and v5 125l1*155000

Hence why they rejected my application at first!, but like I said I just had to write a long letter ' for dummies' to explain what was going on

" On hmrc nova form - 125l155000
On letter of authenticity 125li*155000 (and actual frame)
on dvla computer and v5 125l1*155000 "

Thats exactly how the numbers are written on my forms/frame.

I think that what is needed is a formal letter from the LCGB to the DVLA informing them of the problems encountered by the members, this problem is likely to get worse because of the closing of all the local offices. At the very least if the computer cant be changed to accept the letter " I ",a notice should be posted in the DVLA office informing the staff of this anomaly.
