Update r anyone interested, the HID extension cable arrived and as I feared, it wasn't a plug and play for the cheap HID unit I have but it does fit the unit I have waiting to go in my Marcos. However, the ignitor connector fitted the Ballast unit so I just soldered and heat shrunk the other connections for the other end of the ignitor and both ends of the negative return for the ignitor. It all work perfectly and I took it out last night for a blast round the Norfolk lanes.....Unbelievable
This is me stopped on a totally unlit country lane:
Dip beam

Main Beam

The lane was flanked with by fields and at that point there is hardly any verge. I wish I'd stopped earlier when there was a wide..ish verge with trees and fences as the beam spread illuminates from edge to edge.
I did try the standard Jockeys 35/35 watt lamp in the drive way and have to say that it is also pretty good, not as good as the HID but most would be happy with it. I haven't bothered posting up comparison pics as the camera seems to compensate for low light and most of the shots look the same although they don't to the naked eye. My H4 conversion with 60/55 was noticeably dimmer though.
