Registering a Scooter

I have a series 3 LI 125 which will be a 175 cc after restoration. I bought it in boxes and am currently just commencing the rebuild.
Sorry if it has been asked before but I have the Nova paperwork and the authentication from LCGB but have heard you need an mot cert in order to register it .
How can I get it to an mot station with no number plate if this is the case ? Do I have to throw it in the back of a van?

I simply insured the scooter using the frame number, wrote the frame number on a piece of card, taped it to the back and rode to the test centre. I have done this 3 times now with no issue
