Now on my 3rd version of the TT rider

I refuse to spend that money though because you get so much more for so much less in car navs. Cheap 2nd hand Garmin £30, or one with lifetime maps updates for £100. You must have spent nearly a grand on satnavs over the years Tim.

Toddy -just because us southerners spend money occasionally it doesn't mean we have more than you lot north of the wash who think it's rude to be seen spending :D

Sticky -yes I do love gadgets it must be said.
I did the old plastic bag/made up mount bit when I started with sat nav then progressed through the cheaper ones but only the dedicated TT rider (new version) holds a charge long enough and is basically fit n forget as it's being used for it's intended and designed purpose in my own experience, it can be used with gloves on and in the pouring rain without fretting it'll pack up - Icertainly wouldn't use my iPhone in a 'waterproof' case instead!

It's the reassurance of being able to know speed/miles left/arrival time and where the nearest petrol station/services etc is in an emergency that I like and now I've had one for many years I wouldn't be without it.
The GP has a dedicated mount and so does my X10 (that I'm on today).

A lot of navs do that Tim, the Garmin Nuvi 58 (lifetime european updates) will show speed in mph and km/h, distance to destination, ETA and fuel stations ect and imo is probably the most you'll get for your money at around £80, also has around 2hr battery life.
I can see your point re being waterproof though..
