Fuel tap vibrating to off position

Postby bjhart » Sat Oct 01, 2016 2:37 pm

Hi
since rebuilding my engine with reed valve and Keihin 28mm carb I have had to extend the fuel tap control rod with a piece of flexible fuel hose to get it past the carb, it works fine except it now vibrates to the off position....really annoying....anyone else had this? How did you fix it?
Cheers

I have seen small universal joints used, available from model shops for boat prop shafts. Have you got a long range tank?

Have you tried putting a rubber grommet in the body, this may grip the rod and ease vibration.

Mine vibrates from On to Reserve, doesn't bother me at all but I can see why you are.

I've seen this happen before when the back of the carb is to close to the fuel tap rod,it rubs against the rod and with the up and down movement of the engine it moves the rod.

I have seen a universal link that came from MB. Pal of mine bought it this year.
