Also, the manifold just touched the frame so jb fitted of set cones and one of the new single end threaded engine bolts.

update: the first hot day we had a few weeks ago, my TS1 started misfiring. My gut feel at the time was that it was the Kytronic and not either an air leak or the lack of oxygen in the air. Having checked everything out and having put the timing and jetting back to what it was before I fitted the Kytronic, it's all running well again.

Can these units be checked out?

Did you try leaning out you mixture before you removed it? If not, changing back to standard ignition and static timing at 17 degrees WILL have changed the jetting requirements (not sure which way :? ) So it could be possible that there is nothing wrong with the unit if that were the case?

When I fitted kytronic after rebuild, I changed jetting to accommodate it. Essentially, richening mid range and dropping main jet. It ran well. I was largely pleased with it. Losing a bit of power at top end was the downside. Backfire and really poor spluttery running just happened overnight. Virtually right the way through rev range.

I dropped needle. It was worse. I raised needle and it improved but was still unrideable.

At this point, I lost patience with kytronic and took it off. Timing back to 17 degrees and jetting back to what it has been for years prior to my experiment with Kytronic.

Engine runs like it used to which was fine for years except the flat spot at 4200 revs.

I did an air leak test when built which is only a few hundred miles ago.

It has to be the Kytronic, Col.

It could just be that you have developed a loose / corroded connection?
Can you try your kytonic on another scoot to see if you get the same symptoms?

Very normal to have to tweak the jetting when you fit advance/retard ignition. A good example of this can be seen by looking at the jetting recommendations given by Cambridge Lambretta for their kits, with the recommendations commonly suggesting an atomiser size that is ideal for one of their motors running a Varitronic, however, this same motor and spec' would typically be very rich at lower revs/throttle positions if used with retarded static ignition.

I looked at the connections and all seemed good, albeit I didn't check them with the multimeter. I may well try it on my other engine later in the year when I have a bit more time. Having spent a couple of hours on the jetting, I took the easy option of just taking it off largely to get the scoot on the road to enjoy the Summer.

The TS1 with Kytronic went on the dyno after I rebuilt the engine so I know the air/fuel ratio was around the ballpark right the way through the throttle range.

For the time being, I am just going to run it at static 17 as it is still a really nice ride set up at that.

Am I correct in assuming that there is no way of checking the Kytronic other than running it on an engine?
